These polar bears look like they're performing their very own version of celebrity hit 'Dancing on Ice'. The amazing set of pictures was captured by photographer Don Johnston who could not believe his eyes as they showed off their fancy footwork. And the talented pair even look incredibly light on their feet - considering they weigh more than a monster 1,600lbs. After limbering up with some stretches, they rear up on their hind legs with paws tightly locked, and perform an impressive waltz for Don's benefit. Don, from Ontario, travelled to Churchill in Manitoba, Canada to snap the bears in their natural environment. But he never expected they would look more at home on the TV screen of millions of Brits than in the icy conditions. The spot in Canada is regarded as one of the best locations for capturing the bears in their natural environment. A world-famous destination, it has the largest concentration of polar bears and provides the best opportunities to view and photograph arctic wildlife. Up to 1,000 bears can be seen gathering along the coastline as the winter freeze-up of Hudson Bay approaches. When the Bay freezes, the polar bears can get onto the ice to hunt their favourite meal, ringed seal. But Don couldn't afford to let down his guard as polar bears are renowned natural killers and attack humans if they come too close. He said: "I was amazed by their presence. They really are fantastic creatures. I've photographed grizzly bears before but they don't seem to be as fearsome. "We set off early one morning to photograph the bears when these two started sparring. "The tour guide told us they were only playing and that they were probably sisters. "When I got back home I looked at the shots and I remember thinking that the bears looked like they were dancing with each other." The new series of ITV's Dancing on Ice kicks off this Sunday and will see Chesney Hawkes replacement X-Factor one-hit-wonder Chico, Charlene Tilton, Rosemary Conley and Heidi Range head up a stellar line-up of celebrity skaters.
