MERCURY PRESS. 16/4/19. Brecon, UK. Pictured: Border collie Mae training on an agility course.A talented pooch set to be shot dead after failing as a sheepdog has become a therapy dog for children who cant read after being rescued by a librarian. Helen Jones, 53, from Brecon, Wales, adopted border collie Mae, then two, seven years ago after the former farm dog struggled to work the sheep and was allegedly set to be killed by the farmer who owned her. But after being saved from her death, the proficient pup went on to become a decorated agility competitor and has recently qualified to be a reading dog to help children who struggle with speech confidence and literature skills.SEE MERCURY COPY
