PIC BY MERLIN TUTTLE / CATERS NEWS - (PICTURED: A brown long-tongued bat (Glossophaga commissarisi) takes its first male flower as another bat returns with face covered from prior visit.) These are the adorable images of a selection of nectar-feeding bats. Seen covered in pollen, and with their heads deep in flowers, nectar-feeding bats are extremely important pollinators for many of the planets most ecologically and economically valuable plants. Because bats can carry more pollen farther than any other animal, plants go to great lengths to attract the creatures. Scientists recently discovered plants that have developed special reflectors - like landing lights for a pilot - guiding the bats with extreme precision.
