A CURIOUS wild cat stares intently into a hidden camera - giving the impression it is just a giant head floating in the sky.
British photographer Dale Morris, 40, captured the close up of the caracal using a remote trigger and disguised camera.
The nimble cat had just been released by a kind-hearted farmer who had trapped it on his land in Western Cape, South Africa
Dale said: "I didn’t expect to get a picture of a floating head. But that’s how the image turned out. It’s not what people are used to seeing. They tell me it makes the caracal seem friendly and intelligent."
The photographer and writer who hails from north London has been working on projects that cast a critical eye on the hunting industry in South Africa.
Caracals, a type of lynx, are often hunted by farmers who blame them for killing livestock.
Dale added: "This particular one was one of the more fortunate wild cats I have photographed. It was caught by a farmer in a humane trap rather than the usual leg-hold trap which causes terrible pain and injury.
"Instead of shooting this caracal, the farmer called a local animal refuge, who took him in."
