This cheeky critter decided he wasn't quite small enough to stay safe so attempted to hide from a nearby photographer - but his enormous eyes gave him away.
Tiny damselfly like this one, which has a face just 1mm wide, are almost impossible to spot in the wild when they first start to emerge during the spring time.
And because they are too young to fly, keen snapper Patrick Zephyr had to get up close and personal on the ground with the colourful creatures.
But as he approached to take a shot with his camera and powerful lens attached, the bug attempted to move around the blade of grass he was on thinking he could hide.
However his huge eyes meant he stood out even more as Patrick, who took the hilarious snap near the Quabbin Reservoir in Massachusetts, USA, snapped away.
Patrick from Pelham in Massachusetts, USA, said: "These damselfly start to emerge around this time of year so I specifically went out looking for them.
"They can't fly early on so to find them you have to really look - most people will just walk straight past them on a daily basis.
"But this one tried even harder not to be seen and as I started moving my body around to get a better shot he did the same and thought he was hiding so moved around the blade of grass.
"He was worried I was a larger animal trying to eat him. To see them act that way is very funny and made for a great shot - I'm glad I managed to find this one."
