DORSET, UNITED KINGDOM - UNDATED: A kingfisher perches on a branch with a fish in its beak in Dorset, England. A BEAUTIFUL kingfisher emerges from the water with its catch of the day. The majestic green and gold bird swooped down from a branch and plunged into the water - emerging with a fish. The stunning split second sequence was captured by wildlife photographer Sam Stewart, 21, near his home in Wimborne, Dorset. Sam spent hours meticulously watching the kingfisher on the banks of a river to record the two second dive. Sam told Barcroft Media: "The most amazing thing about Kingfishers is the fact they can dive into water and catch fish in such a short space of time.  "It takes less than two seconds for a bird to dive from a perch into the water, catch a fish and emerge to fly back up on to a branch with a fish in its bill." And Sam revealed it took a lot of early starts to make sure he was in position to capture the kingfisher. He added: "They are very active at dawn, I however am not. A lot of early mornings have gone to into this project,   "They are fast and agile flyers, often only given away by there sharp high pitched call as they come screaming round a bend in the river.  "Wildlife photography is all about trying different things, and trying to get different results from everyone else. But that is a lot easier said than done when it comes to Kingfishers."
